Special Announcement from Uncle Dick and Jimmy Ryan
IN THE WORDS OF UNCLE DICK
Earlier this year I posted on my web page uncledickscards.com and I announced it as well at the first major show of the year, the Philly show, that 2019 will be my retirement year.
At that show many collectors said, “Don’t retire, UD. We always come to your table first.” Others that weekend made similar statements.
In May of this year I started to experience some health issues. I began to think an 80-year-old doesn’t need to be driving 25,000 miles each year.
While it is my passion to keep 101 books stocked with stars and commons and to interact with collectors at shows, playing baseball trivia, learning where they are from, (I am always interested in how far people drive or fly to attend a ball card show), it is finally obvious to me (I hate to admit it), I just cannot keep up the same pace.
I have had a number of dealers and auction houses express interest in buying my inventory, however it is my desire to satisfy those collectors who told me not to retire. So, it is my wish for someone to keep alive the concept of Uncle Dick’s Cards – we help you build sets. Always trying to keep in stock cards in ex mint, middle grade, and lesser grade from the Bowman era through the mid 70’s in all four sports. Sometimes it has been a real challenge.
One individual has come forward and agreed to keep that same purpose alive. Jimmy Ryan of JP Sports has indicated that he will do just that. His words to me were, “It would be an honor to purchase and maintain Uncle Dick’s Cards.” So, I am very happy to announce before the end of 2019 that Jimmy will be the owner of UD Cards.
And as often as health will allow, I will be at the booth along with Jimmy to help with the transition.
You collectors should not miss a beat. You will be able to keep building your sets with the same books and affordable pricing as in the past. Jimmy has assured me that he won’t raise prices. He will be fair in all his dealings and he might surprise you with his baseball trivia knowledge, even for a younger man.
I have the utmost confidence in him and have the same confidence that all my past customer collectors will feel the same.

Hello Collectors,
Let me introduce myself, My name is Jimmy Ryan owner of JP’ Sports Collectibles & JP’S Sports & Rock Solid Promotions. Some of you may know of us from our booth setups at most of the major sports card shows on the East Coast and the National every year. We also promote the Westchester/White Plains and Hofstra Shows. We have been selling vintage cards and helping collectors fill there sets since 1987.
We are very excited and honored as Uncle Dick has stated to purchase and continue Uncle Dicks Cards. Uncle Dick will be assisting us at the booth as long as he wants to with the transition of running his business as normal going forward. We currently set up at a lot of the shows that Uncle Dick does, such as Valley Forge, Boston, The National. We will be increasing our show presence at the Chantilly, Chicago and Strongsville Shows. Uncle Dicks business is very similar to ours as that we both enjoy helping collectors build sets. This is one of the reasons that Uncle Dick and I both believe that this will be a perfect fit for the collectors. Please stop by and introduce yourself, drop off your lists, make suggestions or just say “HI”
Looking forward to the future and having some fun with you all
Jimmy Ryan
